Selling a horse.

I've heard that you can't sell your starter horses in order to prevent you having no horses (checked on one of starter pair and she can't be sold, but her children can)

As Plinko said above you can't actually sell/kill your starter horses (anymore). This is to prevent players from basically softlocking themselves out of the game as it becomes very difficult to make equus to buy more horses. New players were more likely to accidentally kill them as they didn't know the basic game mechanics yet

I am trying to sell Fury Of The West. I gained him through the tutorial. Is this why?

The tutorial horses can't be sold anymore. As stated above 2/3 horses are ALWAYS on the account (not divines) so players can still breed and actually play the game. The game becomes almost unplayable if players sold all their horses...as that's what the game is about. So they set this up so people can still play the game as they can't accidentally kill or sell their horses.

You can breed more horses to sell though soo that's still an option, but you just can't sell the tutorial horses.
