Hello everyone,
The new version of the Howrse mobile App is now available on iOS and Android!
If you already use the App, make sure to update it to enjoy the new experience. And if you've never really given the mobile version a try before, it now may be the perfect time to jump in.
The biggest change is the switch to landscape mode. This evolution allows us to offer a much more complete Howrse experience on mobile, with navigation and gameplay that are now much closer to the web version.
This update also includes several changes to the interface and navigation, including:
The web version has also received a redesigned header to better align the website and the mobile App, creating a more modern and consistent experience across both platforms.
As with any interface update, it may take a little time to get used to the changes. We hope these improvements will make navigating Howrse easier and more enjoyable in the long run.
We'd love to hear your thoughts! Feel free to share your feedback, first impressions, suggestions, or any issues you encounter in the comments below. Your feedback helps us continue improving the game and the mobile experience.
We look forward to reading your comments!

- 18:07Please add the option to switc back to classic on browser.
Nothing has been an improvement in terms of navigation, I dont like the sticky title bar, it's of no use and gets in the way when scrolling down. Having had everything set upo to play perfectly on 75% zoom, everything is out of proportion. If I wanted to play the mobile version I would, I dont like it so I played classic as I have done for the 20 odd years I've had an account here and on Inter.
There are plenty of helpful gameplay adjustments that could be made over this change which I don't feel has actually bought anything to the game, rather it has detracted from an enjoyable gameplay ecperience for me. - 19:05I second the request to have the option to use the original/classic version on a browser. Even if I need to access Howrse on a device (rarely) I always use the web version over the mobile version.
I also have issues with sticky title bar, all it's achieving is taking up valuable page space. The only thing on it that might be useful to have constantly visible is the notifications bell and possibly the inbox, the rest I don't need to see all the time, and it took less than a second to page up or hit the home button if I did want to see the info or access the links. Plus I was seeing that bar at the top every single time I went to a new page in the course of normal gameplay anyway so I'd never missed a notification or message for longer than a couple of minutes.
Other things I've grumbled at almost instantly:
It took me a while to find where the help link has gone (it's now in the profile menu).
I now have to navigate to the main forums page to get to Events/Gameplay when before I could just use the community menu and get here in a single click.
I do appreciate that the menus are much clearer to read, but I'm still waiting patiently for an improvement to the contrast of the unclickable affixes in breeding farm view so I can read them more easily.
I also assume that the Ascent link will return when the new season starts, will it return under the same menu? - 19:51Absolutely pointless and not an improvement in my opinion.
I play the classical version because I didn’t like the app, now it’s so similar it makes it look like a cheap app.
I keep pressing the today button, the scrolling menu gets in the way and the navigation is more clicks for forums.
There are much better improvements that could have been implemented which would have made gameplay better - 19:51Agreeing with the above comments regarding the sticky title bar more than anything, having also set up my game a similar way to streamline certain aspects of gameplay. I play exclusively on browser and, up until now, classic version since starting in 2012. An option to play on true classic would solve a lot of the issues players like myself are having now.
These changes don't seem to be offering much improvement to quality of life, merely a visual change that I feel many players have gripes with. - 19:56This update has made the game unplayable for me. I’m using the desktop site on a laptop and the clear bar at the top staying still while I scroll and everything else below and underneath it moving is giving me major motion sickness. I can’t use the game for more than a few minutes at a time without feeling nauseous. I’ve never had this problem before.
It feels like design changes are being made just for the sake of being able to say the site is being updated and “improved”. I’m tired of having to click more to get to specific pages because Howrse is insistent on condensing the drop down menus (defeating the entire point of drop down menus). I’m tired of having to scroll further and click more because redesigned pages are inflating font and icon sizes to fill space (e.g. trophies and rankings). I’m tired of looking at gaudy blue and pink pages and clashing, inconsistent designs across the game. The traditional, soft yellow is Howrse’s signature look and is much easier on the eyes. It oozes nostalgia and warmth. You’re losing your brand identity with each update and making the game less accessible as well as more difficult/time-consuming to navigate.
Merging the mobile and desktop designs/layouts is never going to work. The entire point of having separate desktop and mobile sites is that they’re optimised for their respective devices. What works on one does not work on the other.
I don’t know if I will be able to play anymore unless the update is reversed. This is the first time a website has ever given me motion sickness. It’s really messing with my eyes.
just realised I'd missed that part. I would prefer it back in the breeding farm menu so it doesn't get lost in the offers, but I'm guessing that won't be an option.
